The top two teams from August’s Copa Latina Qualifying Tournament, Blue Star and Red Force, automatically qualified as did last year’s Copa Latina champion, Peru NMB. The rest of the teams were selected from the more than 75 applications that were submitted.

“This year’s tournament, the nineteenth anniversary of the Copa Latina, promises to be bigger and better than ever,” said Tom Mulroy, president of Se Habla Futbol, the organization that runs the tournament. “These teams are all high-level teams, meaning the tournament will be very exciting.”

El Nuevo Herald Copa Latina is America's most prestigious amateur soccer tournament, representing nearly 20 countries from Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe. Kickoff for Copa Latina 2012 is Saturday, February 4, 2011 at 8 p.m., with opening ceremonies starting at 7 p.m. All games will be played at Ted Hendricks Stadium (Milander Park) in Hialeah.
